The latest collected package is xbox-1.1.26292.1138 (2026-10-19). The installation walkthrough below follows xbox-1.1.26291.1739. Read the notes for the package you choose; collecting a release does not verify game compatibility.
Before you start
- Use a Series X or Series S. The developer's release targets these devices. It explicitly excludes Xbox One. Xbox-specific demonstrations reviewed here are for Series X.
- Activate Developer Mode through Microsoft. Follow Microsoft's activation instructions. Registration eligibility and charges belong to Microsoft's current program; this site does not provide an account or activation service.
- Have a PC, a local network and suitable USB storage. You need to unpack the release, reach Xbox Device Portal and prepare the game folder. Back up files before formatting a drive.
- Provide your own lawfully obtained game files. The project does not distribute games or copyrighted system software. There are no game downloads on this site.

Install the developer's package
- Check the release source.
Open Cosmo/KytyPS5 Releases. The release reviewed for this guide is xbox-1.1.26291.1739, published 2026-10-18. It is experimental. Review the notes and assets on GitHub rather than following a rehosted installer.
- Unpack the ZIP on your PC.
The release includes the application
.msixand aDependenciesfolder. Keep them together and read the instructions for that particular version. - Open Xbox Device Portal.
Start the console in Developer Mode and use the address displayed by Dev Home. Microsoft's Device Portal documentation explains the development connection. Keep this interface on your trusted local network.
- Add the app and dependencies.
In Device Portal choose Add, select the
.msixand include both packages supplied inDependencies. Start installation. Follow a changed dependency list if a later release provides different instructions. - Set the application type to Game.
In Dev Home, the developer directs you to set the app's type to Game for its larger memory budget. A successful installation alone does not prove a game will load.
- Add your prepared game folder.
Follow the storage section below, launch KytyPS5 and add the folder in its settings. The UWP documentation describes rescanning the library with Y. Begin by checking your exact game's available Xbox evidence.
Prepare game-folder access
The developer documents NTFS USB storage, selected as Media when connected to Xbox. The app looks for folders containing eboot.bin and also supports its documented .zar archives.
UWP needs permission to read the folder. The project describes granting read access to ALL APPLICATION PACKAGES on the PC before connecting the drive. That grant allows other UWP applications to read the folder too; the same documentation offers the app's package SID as the narrower alternative. Apply it only to the intended game folder. A separate user-data path needs the write permission described by the developer.

When something fails
The app will not install
Confirm you are in Developer Mode on a supported console, have the correct package and have included its dependencies. Keep the actual Device Portal error. Repeatedly downloading unrelated installers will not identify the cause.
The library is empty
Check the configured folder, file layout and UWP access. Rescan it after changes. The project documents unreadable-folder messages in the launcher; use that message to check the intended path.
A game starts and then stops
Record the console, package version, game version, last visible scene and relevant logs. The port has memory and renderer constraints. Check Xbox changes and known limits before assuming a bad installation.
Graphics differ from a PC video
The Xbox D3D12 path has device-specific workarounds. A different renderer and build can produce a different result. See how the port works and avoid copying desktop performance expectations.
Updating to the 19 October package
For xbox-1.1.26292.1138, the developer asks existing users to clear compiled shaders once after updating: open Settings → Developer → Remove compiled shaders. This instruction belongs to this release; check later release notes before repeating it.
The release also adds a detailed overlay under Settings → Overlay for CPU, GPU and memory information. If a game stops, record these readings with your console model and package version when using the project’s reporting route. This is a troubleshooting aid, not a performance result from this site.
Release notes reviewed 19 October 2026. We have not tested the package on a console. The developer’s shader and graphics fixes do not establish a new title-specific Xbox result.
Updates and returning to retail play
The reviewed release notes say a newer package installs over earlier builds and preserves application data. Keep your own backups before updating and read release-specific changes. An emulator rollback and a saved game's compatibility are separate questions.
Microsoft documents switching between Developer Mode and Retail Mode. Use the console's supported switching process; installing a UWP app does not turn retail Xbox games into PS5-compatible software.
